Anyone fish Monticello Reservoir in SC?

Hi Guys,

I'm new to this whole forum experiance,

Any of you fish Monticello Reservoir? Are their any stripers in there? I've been looking for SCDNR info to see if they have stocked stripers in Monticello but I havn't had any luck.

Hi Abrock welcome to the forum.

South Carolina Dnr put out a recent press release on stocking 2.5 million striped bass into the Santee Cooper system.

For information about the DNR's freshwater fish stocking program, call (803) 734-3886 in Columbia.


Here is a map of the system. Monticello is north of the stocking locations and below the dam. Whether or not the Dnr stocks this lake Im not sure. It would take some research. I think they might. Ill have to call and find out or perhaps someone in your area may know first hand.

The water that is in that lake was pumped in from the broad water.I am sure there r striperss in it.But BIG BLUES r the fish to catch there,I bet the world record will be caught there.The water is super clear,if u go dont use anything but black lights at night the fish can see for miles.Water is super deep and you can not get caught with a castnet in your boat.They do check alo! Great Lake.
