we throw alot of 1.5 and 2.0 smilling bill bucktails in white here in r.i. at the breachways. I'm trying some black ones. I've got a mold for 4 and 5 oz smilling bills I'm tieing for the cape cod canel. I've got 70 jigs poured, I tied some black, some white with olive, white with pink, white w/yellow. white/chartruce. I'm just wondering what's everyone best color

Be sure to do a few in dull boring brown. A sharpie turned me on to that 2 years ago and he was right - it's a killer color at night.

when you guys wrap you own bucktails do you put the electrical tape over top of the thread? or just leave the thread.
If you leave the thread showing and tips on how to make it real secure(i have a feeling mine already is but I don't want all the buck coming off)

A nice thick coat of 5 minute epoxy. I prefer Z-Poxy brand as it dries nice and clear. Most fly shops will have it.
If you don't have a rotary drier just keep turning it in your hand until it sets up - only takes a few minutes.
