I am brand new here and think this place is great...
Funny thing is, I was in the process of making a boating and fishing site for us guys(and girls) in Mass and then found this place...

Maybe my site will grow to be as great as here.

I know i'll be spending some quality time here!

Very well put Jonny. I think all our members here are very happy and I guess you can say we are a "family" here,. There's a lot of good guys here along with some great mods and adm and I think we'll all be staying here.

I wasn't trying to "steal" members, I was creating up a site for Boston boaters and fishermen at the same time I found this site.

The site is aimed directly at local people unlike this site, seemingly points to all areas and locations.

I like this site a lot, it seems very informative, and I plan on staying and hopefully contributing in a helpful way.

I just thought I would spread the word about my new local site.

Taking the link down is fine with me, but I don't think you need to worry about losing members because of it.

Best of luck with your board. Tight lines!!! No one steals members. If a site is run well people will have a look and if there is good info on what they are looking for and some fun individuals they will stay. We had a sites recruit active members from our lists by offering free tackle to those who get 10 people to sign on from other boards. So Private messages to our members became a problem. Some left here and went there. They can stay there. too.

No worries 'rocks. I hate to be the "bad guy", but sometimes I gotta drop tha hammer I'm sure you understand. It's like if you were member here for say a year and had 1000 posts, that would obviously make you a loyal member in very good standing, and at that point, posting a link to something you are putting together would not be a problem at all. Nothing personal man, it's just the "first post thing" can sometimes be a problem.

I, in the past, ran a site (forum) that had over 10,000 members and I was in the same shoes as you, I definately should have known better.
It's a lot of work to run a big site and you don't need some yahoo coming and trying to scoop up all your members... especially with their first post... LOL!!!

I am currently a member on at least 5 or 6 fishing and boating forums and each one has it's own qualities... that's why I belong to each.

I decided to put one together for local action as none of the others were really, totally, regional... mostly on the same idea as this one... many different regions, all seperated into their own parts of the one big site.

Anyway, all that aside... thanks for the welcomes!
