about 200 bucks for breathables. Neoprenes are cheaper.
Simms can go to $600
Orvis - LL Bean
Cheaper = Hodgemans - Cabelas. Caddis - Snowbees - No matter what probably + - 3 years of hard fishing.

I like breathable. You can load up underneath in the cold. And you can walk a marathon in the spring and summer. You can get a great pair in the low 100's but do some research and check out the comments from other people who bought the same item.

You might want to check Dick's Sporting Goods online, with 30 pgs of hip & chest waders from $35 to more than $200. I find that I seldom need more than hip waders (felt soled) with chest-hi rainpants over them. I don't ever want to be chest deep in surf anyway, unless it's because I'm swimming after lost fish or tackle. You can't cast or get at equipment easily and you're vulnerable to powerful rips that can drown you. Most often I wear a pair of knee-hi wellies in Fall and swim trunks and solid sandals in Summer. Best luck!

Oooooo, Pman, you're going to get for that.

I do agree though. I like / prefer hip boots myself for a bunch of reasons.
But, everytime I mention hip boots I get .

So I don't anymore. (but I am seeing more and more with them )

Thumbs up Re: how much for quality waders?

Thanks Floatsum for the support. I find chest waders restrictive, especially at the knees. Frankly I've never been in a place where I felt they were needed, though I admit I don't fly fish and I could see them being useful to fly fishermen. Tight lines, m'friend.

Hip waders would be fine for some areas. I've been thinking of getting a pair for fishing the canal. However most places I fish regularly, hip waders would be quite useless. It's not unusual to be standing on a rock that is a foot out of the water, and have a 5 foot wave slam into you,,,, not to mention wading through 4-5 feet of water to get to said rock.

That's wetsuit conditions there !!

As for waders, I've had a lot of different brands over the years but for the past 3 or 4 I've been sticking with LL Bean. They leak, they replace them - no questions asked,
