Re: Need fishing report for Wateree
LAKE WATEREE: Striped Bass: Good. Fish in the lower part of the lake using topwaters, shiners, or goldfish. Largemouth Bass: Fair to Good. The bite is inconsistent from day to day but fishermen are catching some nice stringers. Look for higher water temperatures in the stained water higher up the lake – 55 or 56 degrees instead of the typical 50-52 degrees. In plastic worms try green pumpkin or red shad colors and also fish dark jigs. Crappie: Great. As the water warms the crappie bite continues to get better and better. Catfish: Very good. Multiple 40 pounders have been taken in the last two weeks. Target big blue cats using cut bait fished on the edges of holes.

Re: Need fishing report for Wateree
Crappie: Great. Correct.Bid strippers still not up,You can get a dink or two like The stringers that were spoke of they are so small I would be ashamed to keep them.
Blues biting in the deep river channels, use crappie this week fillets and heads.Good Luck

Bill, I'm burning a vacation day to hit CC next Friday 21st. Think I'm too early, should I save the vacation day for a week or two later?

I would wait,The water is still muddy and We looked Trolling fresh shad with planner bobbers all over the Lake today,Only a few cats.
When the dogwoods bloom the fish will be there,or very close if things go right.

Re: Need fishing report for Wateree
When you fish CC, do you normally put in at CC landing? Can I get my 18' pontoon in at the landing this time of year? Thanks

Dash,I have seen a lot of pontoons put in there, the only thing is its close to the dam and if they got the water running it makes it tough to load and also you have to beach your boat on the bank along with the rocks,no dock pier or lights there(thats bad right behind a power plant and they aint got no lights). Its getting time for them to be in the river,I feel sure the rain we had this weekend will have the water muddy for several days but when it clears up I am hoping to be there..sam

Re: Need fishing report for Wateree
Thanks....I just have a 25hp powering my toon.....only runs 'bout 10-12mph. I guess the closed place to put in other than cc landing would be Wateree landing. How far by water is it from Wateree landing up to the dam? Thanks
