Default Lighter rod

Looking to get a lighter rod to use bucktails/sp minnows and lighter lures and local shop had a
tica2 12ft 3/4-2 moderate fast medium that was exactly what I was looking for.
Question is,is rod too light for stripers in surf?
For $150 are there better options in 10-12ft range?

I currently have surge 1/2 -3 now although great, would like to have a little bit taller and lighter rod

Default Re: Lighter rod

The Tica should do fine for you, and is a pretty decent rod for that price range. Personally, I much prefer an 11' rod over a 12' for surfcasting, especially lighter stuff.
