Default Stripers hit PEI

I've been fishing a river here in PEI for 25 years and have never landed a striper on this river. My fishing buddy had landed 1 in 20 years. Last Friday and Saturday my buddy John landed 3 between 21" and 16". There has been stripers being landed and released every day for the past week. Very encouraging!!!!! lots of different age classes. Do you think they are spawning in this system? Also an interesting side note some Ass.... landed and kept a 31" striper....funny how some people are so stupid...about a dozen people watched this and about 25 mins. later the wardens showed up and busted his stupid ass.

We are unable to keep or even fish for stripers here due to a variation order.

Dave it sounds like they are spawning there or in a nearby river. Those size fish are only a year or two old and generally dont migrate until 3 years old.
It takes 37 miles of river to be a viable spawning site with a current speed of 1 foot per second.

According to Bulak (1988), if a striped bass spawned at 70 degrees F in a low rainfall year, approximately 36 miles of flowing water is necessary for the eggs to hatch. But if a striper spawned at the same temperature during a high rainfall period, about 72 miles of flowing water from the spawning area is required. A flow velocity in the river of approximately one-foot per second is required to keep the eggs afloat.
