Hey, Old post but I'll reply anyway. Just joined the forum, and am new to Striper fishing. Located in Sackville (New Brunswick not NS).

Hey Guys, Yeah, I'm from Saint john,N.B. I do most of my striper fishing right here in the Saint John River at thr Reversing Falls. Our main run of stripers is in Oct., but we do get a spring and summer run also.We have been picking up a few fish migrating up from Nova Scotia as well.Last Oct. we didn't get the numbers of fish that we had the year before, but the average size was larger. Most of the fish were between 12 and 25 lbs. I fish mostly at night when the tide is right, and when they are running good we can pick up 8-15 fish a night.(catch and release)Most of our fish are caught on crankbaits, but we are going to try the surf deal this year. We have miles of beaches up here with nobody using them.We could sure use some of you beach bums up here to show us the ropes!

Legality of it all... Just read that the coastal waters on the Northumberland Strait and Gulf of St Laurence are closed to Striped Bass fishing (no open season exists). I know this applies to the inland waters of NB and NS along the Strait, but does anyone know if it also applies to say the surf fishing along the coastal beaches?

Just joined the site, living in Moncton and looking forward to some good fishing this year. Does everybody think all the runs will be early this year because of our mild weather?

What this means is that the fishery is closed in all waters (rivers) that empty in the Gulf of St Lawrence (including Northumberland Strait ). The Gulf salt waters are indeed closed too.
In New Brunswick, striped bass fishing is only open in the rivers emptying in the Bay of Fundy, or in the Bay of Fundy itself.

Hope this answers your question.
Have a great fishing season,

You are required to purchase a general fishing licence or a salmon fishing licence to angle in the
waters of Nova Scotia, with the following exceptions:
• No licence is required to angle in tidal
waters; however, seasons and bag limits
are still in effect. (See details for each
Recreational Fishing Area, Other Angling
Seasons (page 9) and Bag Limits, (page 7),
for more information. The boundaries of
tidal waters are defined by the Department
of Fisheries and Oceans. Check each
Recreational Fishing Area for tidal water
closures.

Striped Bass
The inland and coastal waters of Nova Scotia,
from Cape North along the Atlantic coast and
the waters of the Bay of Fundy, to the New
Brunswick border. Bag limit: 1 fish—except
along the Northumberland Strait and Gulf of
St. Lawrence from the New Brunswick border
to Cape North, where the season is closed.

Now that the Causway between Riverview and Moncton is open the Stripers are back in the Petitcodiac River.
