Went out this morning by myself as usual lately, trolled off of St. Georges Island just got the rods out and the old Penn on the left side went a sqealing. Wasn't no trophy but with our size limit back to normal it was a good eating fish. Went a little further north staying around 40' and made a turn to head back to the Maryland side and before I got across the right rod in front went off. It was a little smaller than the first but still a good fish. It was pretty choppy this morning and the ride back to the dock against the wind was no picnic. I have been mostly catching on double rigged parachutes. Today I had used smaller than the ones we use during the Trophy Season, a 5 oz and a 3 oz with a 6" shad attached white and chartreuse seem to work the best.
We got out after a 1st morning bite again and man they were very active
Bait was everywhere, on the 1st drift we didn't go 100yrds and one of the rods was going off, but like yesterday a lot of hit and misses again today (smaller fish) but they were very active. Thought for a min we were going to have a triple but it didn't pan out.
We ended up with 4 making it into the boat, a few more that popped off right near the boat and a number of hit & runs. In total we easily had a doz+ wacks. Even though most were small sub 30" fish we still had a BLAST catching and feeding then HAHA
I did manage 2 that were more of the avg style ... a 34" and 33.5" here ....
You can tell by the pics it was absolutly beautiful out there, river was like glass and there was very little boat traffic. Like a totally different place than last weekend. Not sure why so many people called it quits already ????. This could be a decent week, maybe not many monsters but those avg fish are very fun IMO
Fish don't care if it's raining & you can't catch em' from your couch ... so get out fishing !!!
