Default Fishing Report May 18th

Montauk Point report May 18, Friday

Early start..... to catch the WHOLE FLOOD ...flood started at 2:53 am ...

The plan there on the point 2 hours into the tide.....

Execution ....In the boat and on the point at 5:08 am....


NON STOP BASS !!!!!.......

From the first drift 5:12 am first 30" bass on only got better.
Everything came together...
WEATHER MEN DEAD WRONG 3-5 was more like 0-1.5 PERFECT conditions
WE were the first boat out and it paid off.
over 40 fish all but 2 were keeper sizes
The largest were a 35", a 36" and a 33"
The fish bit on ANYTHING you threw at them ....Krocks 5&6 oz, 6 & 8oz diamonds, jigs. 6oz bucktails.....
Tons of action then at around 620 when the sun started to hand high BAM a massacre of blue proportions...The blues moved in and took over fish were from cocktail up to 10 -12 #'s a blast...

Non stop action for 2 HRS plus!!!!

We had had enough and changed gears to fluking over by the Radar tower in 60 paid off pretty well ...

25.5" 5#+ and a 22.5 3.5-4 # er as well an numerous "19" shorts ..

Reels used a CEREBUS 3210 with 30#SUPER 8 blue braid and a 40# fluorocarbon leader
CEREBUS 200 with same setup.....

Things are about to explode in Montauk.... get out here and fish !!!!
