Default Re: casting live herring

for the hook leader I use atleast 18 inches and for the sinker I use atleast a 16 inch leader for the sinker. never have them both the same other wise you will sometimes kill the fish with the sinker..

Question Re: casting live herring

So Hung, it sounds like you're using a three-way type rig- with two separate leaders, one w/hook, one w/weight- with your live herring, not a "fishfinder" type rig.
How far does that let you chuck a herring from shore, usually?
I know with a fishfinder rig, no matter what size weight I use, the weight and the fish separate during the cast and neither go all that far out.
Any and all suggestions appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your shared knowledge.
