Default Pontoon for Stripers

I am having a difficult time deciding on a pontoon boat. I will mostly fish but have a wife and two daughters. I would like to be able to do the occasional overnight trip. I want an enclosure for fishing in the cold too. I will rig it with downriggers and a nice trolling motor. It will be used on Norris Lake in East Tennessee, and stored at an uncovered dock behind my house. Does anyone troll off their pontoon? Anyone suggest a brand/model?

At my old home lake of Smith Mountain Lake in sw Va., pontoons were VERY popular for striper fishing rigs. I've seen 'em with total enclosures for winter fishing, and rigged with every thing you can imagine...downriggers, trolling motors, multiple fishfinders, kicker motors ect. You name it, and somebody probably had it rigged on a 'toon. If I didn't have a serious need for speed, I would consider rigging up a pontoon for a fishing rig on an enclosed freshwater lake.

Hear that sound? Clink...Clink...Clink.... the noise is from quarters dropping in your gas tank when gas is like 4$ a gallon

Actually I don't know what motor to get either... I heard big motors are a waste on toons. I have seen them with 40 hp up to 115 for the same boat.

my family has a 20 foot toon has a 70 horse johnson. (not the best on gas) my 20 foot cc has a 100hp yamaha 4-stroke. unbelivable on gas. it really is. i just bought an old skipper 24 foot pontoon. there not the best looking boats but there sturdy and cheap. i just picked one up for 300 with a running motor. im gonna rig it up for bass this winter.

i live on a small lake in northern jersey and no gas is allowed so electric could be an option depending on how far you go. my like is about 4 mi long by 1.5-2.5 mi wide and a bigger electric motor works for all my buddies fishing from a pontoon on the lake. actually our lake record was caught while trolling and jigging a work
