So I could not measure it. The big one was real close to 40" but I couldn't be sure so I let it go. I took some pics on my boat. Today I'll use the tape and pictures to figure out how big they were. Also had a monster get away. I'll try to post pics.....

I boated a keeper yesterday, 24". I used my pics and measuring tape to figure the length of the two from the previous day, I'll call them at 36" and 32".
Put in at Albany at 2pm, dropped sabikis 200 yards from the dock and had 12 herring (had a friend with me) in less than 5 minutes. I didn't take 20 because I wasn't sure how 20 would do in my live well. Couldn't get anymore herring later on.

Re: 2016 STRIPER REPORTs
Ugh seeing all these posts of all the fish being caught is killing me...I've been working 7 days a week the last few weeks and now I'm going on vacation to the Dominican Republic with my GF tomorrow, so that wipes out this weekend and next weekend, wont be able to put the boat in until Friday the 6th. I will never let her schedule a vacation for late April again!!
Please leave a few fish for me.......

Tell her to go alone..................you've made a huge mistake...never schedule anything but fishing during striper season.

It took nearly 50 minutes to net. The other boats around me couldn't believe the fight it put up. We all thought it was a monster. 20 mins into the fight my other pole went off. Luckily that one didn't put up much of a fight and I got it in quick while holding my other pole between my legs.
To top it off, one of the fish had a $100 tag. Though a little part of me is disappointed that I'm still striving for that 40+ incher after all these years... it was a damn good day on the water to say the least.

That's an AWESOME trip man! Congratulations.

You: "Honey, we have to talk." (Sense that dreadful conclusion has been reached, in your voice, manner.)
Her: " What is it Hun?" ( concerned voice)
You: " I've made a big mistake, and I have to tell you something."
Her: What is it? ( fear, nervousness, terror just below the surface of her otherwise supportive veneer).
You: (after some hemming and hawing, explain that your innerself is calling, nay, directing you, to assuage the primal anxiety and urge to go fishing; and that you cannot go to the islands or you will die inside).
Her: (relieved, and a little disappointed but understanding) "ok babe, you do what you have to do. I don't get it but, you have to answer that calling...."
Bingo, an extra two weeks of fishing for you....

Just make sure to tell her she needs to show you how much she appreciates your monstrous sacrifice all week long while you are down there
Plus... i believe you may find a fishing opportunity or two down there ... they often do make up charters in resorts where they will combine people so you don't need to charter the whole boat.

Re: 2016 STRIPER REPORTs
Is anyone catching anything further south? Like south of Peekskill? Or do I need to drive north to get some action?

Re: 2016 STRIPER REPORTs
Bait was damn near impossible in the creek this morning. Was able to finally get enough to fish the last hour of outgoing tide. Boated three fish. Two were twins. Both 37" and slightly over 20 lbs. may go again later.
