Re: 2016 STRIPER REPORTs
First time out - first striper of the season! 30" 16lbs. Outgoing tide around 8:00am south of Albany on live herring, lost a second one. Wind was ridiculous!

Nice, that answers my question. Looks like they are biting all up and down the Hudson. What bait were you using? Was it bloodworms or herring?

Re: 2016 STRIPER REPORTs
Bait was a pain again this morning. Was only able to get six. They're pretty plentiful in the river from what I gather. Was able to fish the last 2 hours of the ebb tide and put 5 in the boat with this 43.5" being the biggest and weighing 39 pounds.

Re: 2016 STRIPER REPORTs
Congrats on some great fish. Not asking for specifics, but can you say what area you're fishing. Greene Co. Albany area , Newburgh, etc, etc.

Re: 2016 STRIPER REPORTs
Fished out of Catskills around Rip Van Winkle Bridge from 7am - 1pm. River won today. Couldn't even get bait. Started out nice this morning but the old wind was relentless. I did see a boy with his dad got a nice one beside me and that was it. Try again next weekend.

Re: 2016 STRIPER REPORTs
Man way to go guys, don't know what I am doing wrong this year but I haven't got anything this year, put 18 hours on the boat over past two days from Albany to Troy, from 5 FOW to 30, in coming, out going, live and chunk and can't get nothing. We only saw 3 fish caught and most people we talk to have similar reports. Going to try south tomorrow.

Re: 2016 STRIPER REPORTs
We fished Catskill from Sat evening till tonight.....marked a shit ton of fish on the east side of the channel but couldn't get any good hits on chunk through the night.....had 4 quick runs but they dropped em quick. Got some live herring Sun morning and managed a 25" striper on live off a bobber 20 ft down just north of the RVW bridge. Wind was miserable and again marked thick schools travelling the east side of the channel but could not get any takers. Water temp 55.6 degrees and it was absolutely bone chilling Sat night. Interesting thing is we drifted south of the Catskill creek till about 1am and the further south we went the river became a desert so we anchored north of the bridge. Water temp dropped 2 degrees Sat night.
