Question of using diamond jig on party boat?

I'd like to jig blues and stripers on the party boat in NJ.

I want to buy some diamond jigs (say 6 of them), after I did research online.

How many oz I should get?

A47 (4oz)?
A27 (2-3/4 oz)?
A37 (3-1/4 oz)?
A67 (5oz)
A87 (6oz)

Which color I should go for the tail?

Also, I never did it before. I use 50lb powerpro. What kind of leader do I need?

Any other tips?

but it all depends on where and how deep they are going to anchor up or drift over.
usually a 2 to 3 0z jig is sufficient but deeper water?> heavier jig. do some homework on the boat itself. they will tell you what you should be using. having a whole array of jigs is not a bad idea anyway unless you just wanna go out once or twice. jigging for bluefish? oh god shoot meeeee!

just so i understand using braid on a party boat is a bad thing? because i am going on a party boat on Wednesday and i was planing to user braid...

I've jigged quite A few blues off of the party boats.
When the bite is on they're all going to work. But when
the bite gets tough I prefer A 3 oz. krocodile jig with A
green tube. The tube your going to have to get seperate
and also get some split rings to attach the hook.The
jig comes with A treble hook.For party boat fishing this
is not what you want. It makes things to difficult. The way
to go is with the single hook with the green tube. Give it
A shot and let us know how it goes. But most important
have fun and SeA you later.

40 guys on a party boat, 1 person lets out too much line or the current pulls it under the boat = possible mass disaster tangle. Their line gets cut quickly by someone thats tangled.

40lb mono is too heavy. You can only cast underhand on a party boat.
Mono casts further then braid if its the same diameter. So you will need the lightest mono you can use 20-25lb (30lb braid casts much further then 25lb mono)
A few Diamond jigs & you can buy single bent hooks w/tubes in different colors
Red, Yellow & Purple Are good to have.
