Nice lathe, good price, check amazon.com I bought the variable speed model this time last year and got free shipping. While you are at it, start looking around for some wood turning tools (chisels), no fun having a lathe on the bench and no tools to turn wood with. (I Know)
Speaking of the variable speed, you might want to consider saving up the few extra bucks to get it, it is very handy to be able to change turning speeds just by turning a dial, rather than changing belts and pulleys....just a thought.
Have fun with it, I sure am.

Learn to turn
Don't know your experience level with lathes but mine was limited to shop class in high school. Found stuff on the web that was a good refresher for both technique and safety.
Google woodturningonline and go to turning articles>>beginner articles and find the one by Brian Clifford. Lots of other stuff if you search for it. YouTube also has some good stuff.
Also while you are shopping:
Face Shield AND goggles!
Dust mask (not the cheap paper ones) or respirator!

When I bought my TCP, variable speed was not an option... I latter bought the kit and retro fitted mine, it was worth every penny, I cut my blanks on the lathe, sanding is a snap because you can slow down the lathe, if you make anything besides plugs, like bowls or baseball bats, you need the VS or the job becomes tedious....

Re: got my lathe ..now need help!
Your not going to find a better lathe for the money than the turncrafter, I've made hundreds ( may a thousand) plugs on mine, base ball bats, bowls, platters, chair rungs, bracelets and many, many other trinkets... It's a good solid lathe...

The Top chuck with the #2 Morse taper is a great deal. It is identical to what I bought for my Lathe.
