To have three miles of floating fish is absolutely disgusting and irresponsible.

Well if anybody on Stripers247 is wondering why they haven't been catching any fish lately it's not because you were using the wrong bait, the wrong lure, or a mono leader instead of floro......it probably has something to do with the fact that a few [email protected]!E$ are doing things like what was mentioned in that link.

I'm not 100% "green" and I'm not all about saving the rain forest and being a hippie but at least I have the common courtesy to do little things like pick up my trash, recycle newspapers and bottles.....and not KILL HUNDRED'S OF FISH like an ignorant piece of $h!T.

I've seen these reports before, but have not actually seen a slew of dead bass. Three miles is a long stretch of dead bass, if the report is accurate.

Well say theres 1000 bass per mile.

10% of those bass would be mass breeders.

So thats 300 mass breeding cows.

1000 fish per mile is only one per 5ft roughly.

I may just quit fishing and get some torpedos.

You beat me to it!! I was just going to post the link to the video. I think the worse part is that the "powers that be" STILL won't listen to reason and agree that it's the COMMERCIAL fishing that is hurting the stocks, NOT the recreational fishermen. Of course, if you listen to them, they say the stocks are stronger than ever. Yeah, right!!

Well guys , I guess this is a by product catch & dump by commercials..Is there anything done by your Fish & Game to investigate this issue..Or is this a ongoing thing...This went on in Monterey , California by drag netters , but was stopped finally...Any ideas on this issue...Jim

If it's the area i think it is then it's probably from gill netters after dogfish. Kinda sad when you think of the waste. What ever happened to trawl line fishing instead of the killer nets ?

A few years ago I did some commercial fishing off of Nauset. During the fall migration we saw many bags containing large stripers. One day in particular I remember a haul containing 6 fish that were all 45" plus and it absolutely broke my heart. Glad that's not something I have to see ever again. To hear about this careless act and lack of respect for the oceans resources really upsets me. I hope there is more being done about this.

About 12-years ago I came across a bunch of floaters in the Hudson River during the spawn run. Turns out they were gill-net by catch from a local commercial shad fisherman.

This is a link to a slide show of a huge haul-seine that resulted in many waisted fish. The audio isn't working though.
