Suction cup for transducer won't stay-help!

Upper Hudson - HH park launch-
I went out for the first time this year just today. No fish - just got a couple herring for bait. I could see them on my old Lowrance X-3, but they weren't biting for me. I did see several other boat fishermen landing a couple.
Now for my problem -
The suction cup transducer for my Lowrance doesn't want to stay on my transom. I just got the unit on ebay last winter.
I wiped the cup down very well so that there is no visible dirt on it. Would Armour-all help?
The boat is freshly painted older fiberglass. Finish is extremely smooth.
If anyone knows a trick to make that suction cup stay on I will be indebted.
I do have a spare permanent mount, but I hate to make holes in a hull that I'm not going to keep long term.

Get a Seasucker. you will never have a suction cup problem again. I actually use one to attach rod holders to the boat! amazing little gizmo...more than one person has gone out and gotten one after seeing mine..

There are a few things you can try that will be easier to do out of the water. Inspect the cup for cracks or rough edges. Try the suction cup on clean piece of glass (wet). If it doesn't stick it's probably got a leak (fix by siliconing the inside of the cup). If that works try a couple different spots on the transom, might be a scratch or small crack.

Thanks for the ideas on the silicone & the sea sucker. I'll try the less expensive and faster solution first. The sea sucker looks like a great idea though and I will keep it in mind if the silicone doesn't work. This forum is great - thanks guys.
