Thru-Hull mount side imaging transducer
I recently purchased a Side imaging thru-hull transducer for my 997c SI, as a transom mount is unfeasible due to trim tabs. Side Imaging requires a clear line of sight for 180 degrees on the bottom half. the ideal mount spot is on the centerline, but that posses several issues, the key one being cavitations from the transducer causing performance issues with the engine.
My question is, does anyone have a good idea of how far to one side this should be mounted to keep the cavitations away from the engine path. It would be mounted would be about 4-5 feet forward of the engine in takes, a bit more for the prop. Depending on side to side mounting it would stick out a 2.5 - 5+ inches down, about 3 wide, and and is a reasonably hydrodynamic shape.
