OK, Not for noting but after a couple hours getting skunked on the Mac I drove home and put up the windows of my Giant Land Rover and SNAP! Yep, the tip of my moderately expensive, 8 foot long, generic Chinese rod was caught up in there and snapped. I now have no Striper rod. I guess it doesn;t matter much since I couldn't catch the suckers NEway.

How much of the tip did you break off? It's pretty cheap to get your rod tip replaced and you can even do it yourself. They sell the kits at Wal-Mart and I'm sure your local tackle shop will have some. You might be better off taking the rod and letting the tackle shop do it for you just to be on the safe side.

I've broken about a foot off a couple of 10'ers over the years. I made 9'ers out of 'em. It's up to you, my friend, will you want to do the 7'8" thing instead of the 8' thing. I don't know where you fish, but from the size of it, it seems like a jetty rod. You can still use the modified size from a jetty.
Now if ya do the surf thing, IMO now, an 8'er is too small to cast plugs out where they need to go. But that is my opinion.
So, maybe it would be an opportune time to get another.
