2nd time out in new boat
I recently picked up my 1st boat in 12 years... and my 2nd boat ever. I grew up boating, fishing and waterskiing on my Dad's boat but I haven't done a lot on my own.
I went out on my new boat with my brother - a very experienced boatman and fisherman - last week and everything went great. We caught a couple of small Stripers and a bluefish. This afternoon I picked up my bro-inlaw and we headed for Salisbury MA. We put the boat in, headed right out the mouth of the Merrimac and traveled south a bit and anchored in 30ish feet of water to fish for some flounder (Thanks Roc!).
Well.... after 15 mintutes I reeled up a skate and then... we had to leave cause the BIL was seasick! Darn! I used to take him out on my boat all the time back in the day. The rollers were probably 2 -3 feet max - it certainly wasn't bothering me. Oh well, I felt bad for the guy. I wasn't going to make him stay out there feeling like crud. So we headed in :(
Hopefully the next outing will be better. The boat ran great! We even hit some slight nastiness coming back in the mouth. The boat did well... we got a bit wet ;)
