I am looking to upgrade from my 4HP Evinrude to a 9.9 Johnson for my 14ft aluminum. I am still new to all of this but I found a decent outboard online from a local guy. Its a 1999 Johnson 2 stroke. He says it runs like new but stalls because it needs a caburetor cleaning. I am not really knowledgable when it comes to repairs but, is this something that can be easily repaired? What is the typical cost?
At 700 is this a good deal? I see that most outboards of that year sell for around 600-900. Any help would be appreciated.

I know almost nothing about motors. I have a small briggs and stratton 5.5 that cost me 700 bucks new.
Heres some Nissan 4 strokes at Cabellas brand new.
Twice the price but brand new. I think they ship for around 100 bucks. Cabelas 4 strokes
Probably not what your looking four but they look nice.
