lol. Hey, I was thinkin'.......what would you think is good to use in a "hole", at the end of a tidal river, which comes to a freshwater dam? Spring time....Herring Run......big bass sitting in the middle, inside the crescent shaped sandbar that the water from the waterfall forums from pouring in. Some rocks for structure across the opening to the dam, where bass love to sit and wait for herrin' to come out of the fish ladder. Whatya think?

It's be something good, something "herring enough" to really fool the bass. Cuz they get smarter as the month of June goes on lol. If you have or come with anything, I can vigorously test things for you next Spring.

Thats what I do about 75% of the time up there durin' tha run. Sometimes its a pain snatching the live herring, and sometimes I just get sick of it and want to work a plug. Somedays poppers will work, but its a select amount of days. The rest of the time its not even worth trying. You can also hook up with rubbah like Calcutta's, but you gotta work em hard. I've even scored with a Rapala Super Shad Rap smothered in Herring smelly jelly, and ofcourse the Gags Mr. Bunker rattle trap smothered as well.

But when about the middle of June hits, it often becomes more and more difficult to hook up on artificials. They will get to a point where they wont touch anything but live herring. No joke....no joke at all.

There is also a big tree trunk at the bottom and branches and crap on the hole too, so ya gotta be careful if your using anything that runs deep. I've lost alot of jigheads in theya lol.

So I'm lookin for something new, that will really "knock em dead" when they get picky.

You can only have so much fun live bait fishing, atleast for me. After awhile I start to get the "this isnt a challenge anymore" syndrome.

I need to work it! ;)

Jigstah, I did the Fin-S thang a multitude of ways, and I only scored once, and that just happened to be on the unweighted deaddrift. I kept trying to get it across the front of the rocks in the suds, and once I got it over there finally, it moved with current and it got banged. Other than that, I all the other fish that were caught on artificials were caught with the Gags Mr. Bunker, Super Shad Rap, husky Jerk and Calcutta rubbah. I caught zero bass there on topwater. Seems I "missed" all the good days of topwater action. Every year there seems to be several or so days where they will explode on poppers.

It's a hell of a spot. And highly overlooked, as is most of the NH fishing. But thats a good thing ;)
