Need help with Boat Poles

i am trying to find out what are the best type of poles to use on a boat for trolling. My Son-in-law knows a friend that builds custom rods and he will build anything that I ask, but I am not sure what to ask for. I need poles for trolling umbrella rigs and some large bunker spoons. I have been using some cheap 5' poles with Penn conventional reels that do not have roller guides. They have worked ok for a while but now they are falling appart from the beaten tha umbella riggs are putting on them. Any suggestions. Do I need two sets of rods, one for umbella rigs and one for the bunker spoons? I don't need poles for jigging and live lining. Just had four 7' poles made with Penn 975LD reels. Picked the reels up on ebay dirt cheap.

Go with the Seeker 1153M series, 8 foot version, perfect for Spoons and Umbrella rigs. No roller tip, I actually prefer a non-roller tip, less maintenance and if the wire ever hangs over the side of the roller it will kink and eventually part under the load of a fish. Ask your son-in-laws friend . He should know, he builds them. Plus he knows the blanks he is using. Just tell him what you want to do.
