I bought an CC with a Johnson 150. The power trim/tilt has worked fine. Last night when i went to flush the engine, the motor wouldn't go down. It sounded as if the hydrolic pump was working fine. The guy I bought it from told me when its up you sometimes need to give it a little push. I did that and it wouldn't move. I looked behind the motor and it appeared as though there were two brackets holding it up, almost like an emergency brake in a car. I didn't want to mess with it because I don't know much about motors. Can anyone confirm that these are there for motor support in a situation when you are trailing a boat and you manually need to release this? Thanks for you help. Hope this makes sense.
The two brackets you are refering to are tilt locks, if they are in the lock posistion, tilt the motor all the way up then flip the lock down, if this is the reason the motor is staying up, you should be all set...
