Default Lynyrd Skynyrd's Billy Powell has passed

Lynyrd Skynyrd's keyboard player Billy Powell died early this morning.

That leaves only Artimus Pyle, drummer, and Gary Rossington, guitarist, left of one of the greatest bands of Southern Rock.

Rest in peace, Billy.

I remember the first time I saw Rossington Collins. They placed a mic out stage front and instrumentally played Free Bird. There was a lot of teary eyed people in that arena that night, it was something especially seeing some of the bikers (color wearing bikers) crying up a storm that evening.

i remember i was in kansas city when at a molly hatchet/marshall tucker/jimmi buffett/kenny loggins>who friggin rocked by the way. summer jam concert and molly hatchet came on with like 30 guitars (exagerating) on front stage and went into a riff for them and blew everyone away. and all of a sudden i see a 64oz bottle come from the stands into the floor and hit this gorgeous blone in the head and cut her up bad. when the bikers got up there and started clocking random people it was like they were led right to the culprit and i don;t know if he got out of there alive as they just beat him while other bikers fended off the event staff and cops. man, i had fun back then.

Funny you mentioned Kenny Loggins. Always an incredible abundance of attractive woman at Kennys shows.

i never grabbed so many womans arses in one afternoon before that concert or since! i think the most women i have ever seen at a concert would have to be at a bon jovi concert. i didn't wanna got to it but a buddy said "you will not be dissappointed" and he was actually right. i was 3 seconds away from ordering tix for levon helm at the beacon theater here and i just could not afford it now.sick to my stomach about not going to that and even more sicker about not getting to see buddy guy. this season is really getting me down as i have less and less money. if i were on welfare i would be getting 80 bucks more in food stamps to sell off for a ticket to the show. now there's something to be happy about.

ROFL! Nailed it! I absolutely agree 100%. I was even thinking the exact same thing when I was replying to my last post.

I'm with ya. Just the price alone of most shows nowadays is enough to break ya. I have had to even reconsider taking my 5 year old to some of the children's productions because they want so much $$$, its sad.

I've gotten to see Buddy Guy a few times, as he usually hits at least one of the Blues Festivals in KC or Tulsa each year. He's one of my favorites.

He's playing with B.B. King this month in Providence, and I'm counting my nickles to try to make it to that one. Probably the last time I'll get to see B.B. and I can only imagine the duels Buddy Guy will coax out of him. That's one thing that's really cool about Buddy Guy's live shows, he's always picking someone on stage to duel with,,, the give and take is really cool.
