I wonder if these guys fish much or do they spend the majority of their fishing time. slinging the lead in grass contests. Im sure they fish. I hope so. ;)

thanks for posting me as a "surfcasting great" reports, i'm flattered you think so highly of me
a couple of things though
i'm british not australian ;) and the video you posted is using an abu 5500, it may have gone a teeny bit further than 219m it was the UKSF final either 2003 or 2004 and the lead would have been a 125g ;)
nice site, i'll definately look in again
oops nearly forgot, we do go fishing, most of us only learned to cast further to try and catch what little is left of our fish stocks and things sort of spiralled from there
take care everyone, best wishes peter

every once in a while you get great feedback about a thread. ie; this one. meant to ask about mag strength vs. reel dia and line volume.

Some videos Off the ground casts from 2006 NZACA casting tournament
https://stripers247.com/surfcastingvideos.htm
Check out this pendulum cast. He had no more line left on the reel. Thats a Penn 525 Knobby. https://stripers247.com/pendulumcastvideo.htm
Here is a collection of Instructional Videos http://myfishcasting.org/pictures/Video-Store
from Keith White and The Jersey Casting Club
He says there is a ton of video in there.
"Be careful as some of them are very big, over 100mb.
there is OTG, Xcast, pendulum (both high and low flat styles), backcast, etc...
In fact, so much stuff, i can't list it, because i don't remember".

the 525 knobby probably was only 3/4 full (specs for 17lb test) i've spooled my 525 but look where they are fishing. may need to get farther than that. nice rod. i understood everything they were saying. he said "if i catch a short it's coming home with me. i will let you guys have all the short fluke as i don;t like to filet them. here! you hold this rod! i forgot to put bait on it.
