Believe the reason it was released ( if this is true ) was because it was caught in an area that is off limits to fishing. If that is true I hope there are serious penalties to the angler that poached it
This is what I have a problem with the assumsion {spell check] that there was some foul play involved and the negativity in the post. It's a great catch,catch of a lifetime. Why would anybody sour grape it?
PS there seams to be a lot of ocean type people here so I think I should stick to the Hudson River board that is were I fish Striper and the people are helpful and friendly on that board.

the problem with forum posts is there is no tone or facial expressions. I was pointing out some of the things I had heard on many forums. I thought I was being cautious with my words and not accusing

Sorry guys, I'm all about conservation too, but if I ever catch a 70#er I'm mounting it - When I'm done I'm taking it to get weighed then off to the taxidermist
Sudsy, I have never kept a fish in my life, no lie, I don't eat em so I don't keep em. I will say If I caught a fish of that size all my fish mojo may be used up on one. I would be hardpressed to let one like that go. A picture can last a lifetime. A fish like that may not last much longer.

It's a hell of a fish...beyond that is not my concern.... the angler has to live with himself, so if letting it go is what best suits him... I applaude.. I've released a few slobs myself... If.. and I do mean IF it is a photo chop.. it still is of no concern to me.. the only one that truely is effected is the guy that did it... and if he can live with it.. so can I...
I think its real, Im 95% sure I know where he was and theres a lot of big Stripers there. your not supposed to target Stripers there but a lot of people do
Nice fish for sure , I guess I would keep it ,as I have never caught one close to that,As for the guy in the photo someone will always ? it reguardless if it's a fish ,turkey, deer , snake toad ,you catch it someone will doubt it.BB
