10 minutes down to the river for a shot at some shorts with a keeper every once in a blue moon... an hour or more to get to the fishing grounds during the peak of the run... and an hour out to the island in the summer!

Re: How far is your destination to travel for striperfishing?
In the Spring I could fish some of my river spots within a 5 to 10 minute drive from my house. Hitting the salt can be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and change depending on destinations.

I'm about 1/2 hour from Plum Island. If I'm heading to the Cape to see the folks, I'll stop at the canal if I leave early enough.

Re: How far is your destination to travel for striperfishing?
I currently live in NC and every year for the past 6 or so years I've been driving or flying to CT to stay at my friends to striper fish. A few years ago we started to go to Montauk too. So I was driving from Nags Head, NC to Wallingford, Ct, then we would go to Montauk, NY. He moved down here this past December and now in September we are both moving back to CT, now we will always be near the stripers. The drive from NC to CT can be anywhere from 9 to 12 hours.

My latest trip was about 1000 miles to Kent Island, MD to striper fish and goose hunt. Fantastic late season trophy striper time and the beginning of Canada Goose banging!

One hour in every direction, Hudson - North, Raritan - South, J-Bay - East, Delaware - West. One hour to each. Well worth the ride.
