ive been fishing for about a week now and havent gotten anything, people next to me got a couple in the 10-18 pound range ...past 2 days a couple small ones have been caught, u think when its hot these fish get stressed a bit and dont bite as much
Otherwise, just chaulk it up to luck. I've seen many days on my boat with three anglers where just one angler gets all the fish, or one angler gets nothing while the other two hammer them (this weekend for me).
Angle - try holding the rod in your hands instead of dead sticking it - and concentrate on the presentation. Reel it slowly a turn or two once in a while.
Sometimes that works for me to help beat a skunk. Check and or changing your bait often. Sometimes this takes the offering from an impossible lie where no fish can reach it.
If its hot and maybe not that deep - look for some current or moving water.
If the herring are around scap some. Have fun - Its not always about the fish.

oo no doubt about it ill take a skunked trip over a great day at work....ur advice of reeling slowly wont be good being its a rocky shore and will get snagged...i know ill get one jus matter of when, cuz im hungry
Angle....the last 2 years Sand worms out fished Bloods 4 to 1 for me,& this year whatever fish I caught [few as it were] were on sand worms & I had both bloods & sands out at the same time. Try Sand worms.
went out today, i got nothing again, friend next to me got a couple, 6# and 13#...smaller one was tagged...i jus hope i get one be4 may 9th being ill be in florida til the 16th, cuz im afraid the run will be mostly over by that
Angle I found them on the finder in a constant 30/28 ft of water. Fished early after noon into the night. Used bloods, Sticks and still nothing but schoolies and few of them. Fished from early afternoon till around 9 all weekend Hell I even went out at 7 and hung out to midnight on Tuesday saw many on the finder but no takers. I m gonna head out at about 5 AM and try herring this Sat till about 1 or so and see. I might go with sands too hell last time I checked they were a bit cheaper too.
