Newbie with reproduction question.
Hello everyone, and greetings from Raystown Country. We are on a man made COE lake in central PA. We have a fishery of about 25 years of age. I have heard of a fertilized Striper egg that does not sink to the bottom and have to tumble to survive. We, like most other landlocked fisheries, have to put all of the fish in our lake. Our fish spawn but the eggs die in the silty bottom of the river. Does anyone know of the strain of fish I heard about? I thought I read they were in some of the southern lakes, the ones where the landlocked fish naturally reproduce. If so please provide some more information. We go crazy every year trying to get fish to put back in the lake (along with the PFBC). The striper clubs have a rearing shed to try to get fingerlings to a size more likely to survive before release. I can't help but think a couple hundred million freshly hatched fry, from these buoyant eggs, would have a better chance of surviving that 100,000 fingerlings. Thanks in advance and tight lines.
