wheeler dam, generating
one of the "honey holes"
the hotd (hybrid of the day)

8.5 lb.s
my biggest salt of the day...18.5 lb.s on 10 lb. spinning gear
i met da man at wheeler dam around 11:30 wednesday for a little afternoon fishin'. we had a west wind blowing up the river, so i knew what to expect...2-3 FOOT ROLLERS. we rounded the corner of big nance creek entering the river and immediately saw birds working and fish blowing up as far as the eye could see (literally acres of stripe hitting top  ).
after quickly tying on a couple of our fave lures we hit 'em and caught schoolies in the 3-7 lb. range 'till we were tired of dealing with the treble hooks.
next, we headed up river towards the dam and and started swimming jigs in the current...same results...same size fish.
after doing this for awhile it was live bait time...medium weight spinning gear, 10 lb. line, a split shot and a lively threadfin shad.
the bigguns were up close to the dam hanging in the current breaks and THEY WERE EATING! :D
we pretty much did this 'till i said "ENOUGH!!" (5:30) i lost count of the numbers caught (a BUNCH)
what a day on the river! :D
