Havasu in mid April
We spent a week there even though the reports were slow for stripers and it was. No luck in the mornings and afternoons so we started anchoring off of points with night crawlers and caught big, big blue gill up to 2 pounds. Got tired of that and decided to begin trolling for stripers starting at sun down to late in the evening which paid off with fish to 4 lbs. Daytime temps reached 108 but at night it was in the 60s, what a relief. We've had much better trips in April but this one turned out OK.

Re: Havasu in mid April
Striped bass are most active during crepuscular periods and during the night hours.
When the Sun gets high in the sky they tend to head for the deeper water where penetration of bright light is far less.
Generally below 40' is where you can still find them, often suspended there or deeper if the water is very clear.
I suggest the use of a down rigger for daytime fishing.

We caught a couple each day but as soon as the sun came up nada. The plus was the fish seem to be alot bigger than we did catch before the winning team got over a hundred#s total talked to them said got all there fish before 6:30 in the morning. We got our fish in the basin on bait did lose a big one on the troll also in the basin. Will be back there next weekend and try up by sandy point and deep.
