advice needed for surf rod purchase..PLEASE

I am buying a new surf rod for a christmas present for myself...it will be used for casting 3 to 5 ozs of weight and cut bait or bloodworms. I fish the hudson river and jersey shore, both bay and ocean. The reel will be a shimano spheros 8000 spooled with 30lb power pro. I have pretty much narrowed my choices down to a 10ft lamiglas, either tri flex or xs(surf and jetty series)mhs, lure weight rating of 2 to 6 or 3 to 6, or a loomis imx 10 ft lure rating of 3/4 to 5. I really want to make the right purchase for my purposes. I would really appreciate some advice on whether or not these rods will serve the purpose and if so and all things being equal which one you would go with. Thx very much for any advice you could impart.

I've not personally used any of those rods, but have heard very good things about the lami surf & jetty series

I have the tri flex 2-6 oz and it has served me well this season. I fish mostly the beach and some fast moving water under bridges with it. I was having a couple of knot issues early on but this was my first year with braid(my fault lol). The imx I held in the store was lighter than my rod and really felt nice. Had the concept guide layout and I think it will be my next rod. Can't go wrong either way though.

Will let you know, gonna try to drown some blood worms on Friday...At the very least will catch some cats and I hear there are a lot of tommy cod being caught...hopefully some straggling stripers, I can only hope.

Aemon, used the new rod Friday in the Hudson...Mission accomplished, as I got the skunk off the new outfit with 2 stripers 22 and 24 inches. Very pleased with the sensitivity of the IMX and it loaded beautifully to cast with 2 to 5 ounces of weight and bait. No strain felt when casting with 5oz weight and got very good distance. Quite pleased...

May it serve you well, thanks for the update. I hope to get one before next season, now I'm looking at seeker rods for a cod fishing.
