Re: What kind of striper fishing do you do?
If I had a boat I'd be on it, but for now I just have to look out in the bay with sad eyes as i cast from the beach. Not that there is anything wrong with the beach except tonight everyone was hitting but me.

Hey Jim....I didn't know where else to ask this. I have only caught stripers chumming using clam bellies. The other day, around 2PM I saw a couple of guys anchored (tide going out) near the shore line of Long Creek in Freeport. One of them had a fish on so I idled and waited to see what he was bringing in...of course it was a nice striper. If he wasn't chumming with bellies, what else could he have been using? Could you use a lure of some kind and let the tide take it out before retrieving it??? I'd really like to try a different method. Using bait all the time gets a bit expensive. I'm not that experienced where I know where the "spots" are to use buck tails. Thanks for anything you can give me.

I fish inland lakes from a boat. Mostly trolling with dowriggers and planer boards.

Most of the time I'll fish from the shore, but I'll venture onto jetties, piers and bridges.

I fish from a boat mostly, in Sandy Hook / Atlantic Highlands NJ. Just bought a new 11 foot surf rod to try some surf fishing also.

Re: What kind of striper fishing do you do?
way up river . lots of eelgrass and a deep channel.
I have best luck about sundown . I like lures , home made wood , rubber shads .3-4-5" stuff . but once it gets dark , they dont take my lures .
there are stripers evrywhere feeding on 1.5" and smaller bait fish,
Got any sugestions? Thanks in Maine.

Since I've moved inland I've had to Fish for Stripers in the River this past season. All my Striper Chasing has been done with top water lures I make in my garage.

Re: What kind of striper fishing do you do?
I am a Saltwater Boat Fisherman! I love trolling, chumming or my newly found action "Livelining the Spot" just can't beat it on fun and excitement! Although nothing beats trolling the early spring Trophy season either, never know what could be on that other end of that Penn Rod when the drag is just a screaming......

Fishing from shore is hard, especialy when it is tidal water. I try to fish from the boat if I get the chance.
