Made the run myself, had a couple follows at the power plant. Stopped down by the coffee Run overlook and saw that the stripers were slashing bait sporadically. Guess it's coming.
Sounds good. Keep us posted, i've been thinking about maybe getting a charter there and see how it's done. It's certainly closer than the jersey shore. See you on the other forums.
hey guys launching james creek wed am running to the bridge, set out some boards and troll back, let me know if you are doing any good.i will report back nitefisher
'm heading down this saturday, for my first experience running the boards in the spring. I just started fishing for stripers last year, I've learned alot, but yet to hook up... what do you guys recommend for live bait ??? should i throw for gizzards or can i get away with shiners and suckers... I called Scott's for some trout but he might not have any yet... any input would be great.... thanks
They are pretty much every where now, you have to take your cast net and throw at either aitch or shy beaver, the shad are there. I would look for the birds now, they know where the food is.
2 more questions and I promise to quit being a pain I just like to know where to start out coming from 3hrs away dry. 1st question does anyone know of people having luck with suckers and are they catching any stripers above the 994 bridge yet?
They are above the bridge, was down at the power plant Thurs, evening and their were quite a few people pitching bucktails and plugs. The water is high now, I would say later this week things should heat up.
Just checked the inflow/outflow for the dam, she running in at close to 5000 cfs which is over the banks. The hydro station is pumping at over 4000 cfs guess we'll look at it next Sunday.
Went up yesterday, they are there and they are hungry also. Taking plugs and flukes. You need to watch the river levels though they come up quick.
