Tested, tuned and ready for battle...
My plug building season is over, all that remains to be done is to finish my swap plugs...
With 35-40 days left before the new arrivals, I've got 3 counter tops to remove and reinstall, two of which I need to cut, I've got to put in the new stove, ( no big deal) install a new diswasher and sink( all being delivered tomorrow), new plumbing is in order, when thats done I've got to paint the dining room and install a new floor.. then the yard needs work, the lawn needs thatching, fertilizer and lime, I've got a brush pile of pine bows that needs to be chipped and a garden to be tilled... somewhere in between, I've got to paint the bottom of the boat and get it ready for another season..
Last night, I took 135 would be warriors to the brine as the tide began to ebb... 5 hours, and approx 300 casts and a 6 pack of beer latter ( drank with the help of a friend) I've got 135 would be champions ready to take their place along side their battle tested brothers and sisters...
I drew another conclusion from last night... The Merrimack is still sleeping, I did see a few herring flips and a gull nailed one of my spooks... last year I got the first hold over ( an 8" runt) April 17, but didnt see another until the first of May, and those were fresh from the sea...

Roc,
My plugbuilding season is quickly winding down as well, looks like you are very well prepared for the coming onslaught, I gotta ask you where you got the bins you are using to carry the plugs in the pictures......I want some, I need some. My buddy and I were just discussing that very thing, and we came in, he saw the pics and said "That's what you need". Looks perfect for traveling with a buttload of plugs, wjich I'll be doing a lot, very soon.

Here ya go Ed,thanks to Striper Jim, he turned me on to them, each boix holds 50 single baits up to 12", smaller ones can be doubled up by placeing the first plug tail up and the second one lip up....They are not cheap, but they are a nice set up...I've got one for metal lipped swimmers, one for bottles, one for darters one for jointeds and one for surface plugs.... it make it easy to load a day bag ..
I gutted tyhe kitchen last night so I couod take advantage of the company dumpster today... damn place looks like downtown bahgdad!

Re: Tested, tuned and ready for battle...
Feels good to be throwing plugs in salt water again doesn't it???
I need to try a casting reel. I guess they have their pros and cons, but lots of people use them, so they must be OK. From what I've read, the Abu 6500 is a good one.

Re: Tested, tuned and ready for battle...
thanks for the link roc, and Rick, I use a 6500 C3 on my bait stick in the spring, then on my fluke rod in the summer, great reel, I put a power handle on it (slightly longer) as the stock handle, I felt, made too small a circle for me to feel comfortable.

Lu,
That truly sucks, but that guy is stuck in bluefish hell, for sure. In his next life, he's coming back as a bunker. Karma is a bitch.
Thanks for the Cabela's tip.
