Inlet fishing and lures

Hi my name is Gabe and I'm just starting out fishing for striped bass. I'm going to be fishing inlets such as the manasquan inlet in point pleasant nj at night only. I wanted to know which lures would work best here at night and any general info would be nice. Such as retrieving agaist the tide or with.

Where there is moving water, a darter is one of my go-to plugs. Don't overlook bucktails either.

Well just went fishing first time for stripers and cought on at the inlet 25in on a rubber tsunami shad. No bits on any of the plastic swimmers, felt like they were not going deep enough. Bomber.

As for the darter what color pref and size and brand.

Retrieve speed?

its hard to beat live eels. let one straight out the back of the boat and another on the bottom. this all ways works well for me at night. good luck.

I like to use a Swedish Pimple or if I'm using bait, I'll go with Smelt.

If I could only bring 1 lure with me, I would always start with a white bucktail.
