Default Going off an inlet (Shinnecock) this week, what setup should I use?

I'm going to shinnecock inlet this week, I haven't decided on my setup. My two main questions are should i go conventional or spinning reel, and should i go artificial bait or live bait? Thanks for any help guys

Go with what you're comfortable with. Live bait is always good, but you should do well with artificials too.

Shinnecock is Red Hot right now you really can't go wrong with either or but I'm partical to Lures. Work the tides top of the outgoing is always best especially when it lines up with 1st Light

On Tuesday I saw a few blues caught, nothing with fluke. I heard the bite isn't bad with fluke right now, but they haven't been close to keeper size.

i like buck tailing shinnecock at the very end of the jetty where its really rocky way out, have had great luck there. Ive gone 2 ozs all the way to 5ozes there white of black tipped with red pork rind. Plugs will work too, depends on conditions and if bait is present as well

oh regarding setup. i like glass heavy action spinning rods on jettys. I use a daiwa embelm pro 5000, with 40lb samurai and a 50lb flouro leader. i go that route for distance and when i fall i dont want my graphites breaking. its also only. you could go conventional as well its more what you feel comfortable with
