What did they expect? The guys would give up their livelihood and the towns their tax base?
One wonders if the solution could be in aquacultured stocks.
Over the last several years, I have become increasingly tired of hearing commercial fisherman whine. Just let them overfish everything, make everything extinct, then maybe they'll decide to pick up a book or two and learn a new trade. Smash all fisheries into pieces. Take everything, leave nothing.
When you rely nature to put food on the table, there are no guarantees.
