I remember that fish well. Unfortunately, I wasn't there when he caught it. I do remember him waking us up at 7 in the morning to show us. It took the entire fridge going up both sides. Not that Roc is very tall, but the fish was bigger than him. :)

Hey Roccus,
Just curious, was the 61 pounder caught in the shallow water near where we were last weekend or did he prefer a little deeper water?

I edited the original post, and added the pic of the 61.
Notice in one of the clippings, they call the 2 Bass listed after Joe's "monster", and "brute", yet they are smaller than Joe's 61 lol
We will be putting together a Stripers247 page for Joe, that will include his newspaper clippings, photos, and any write-ups he has done here for the members of S247. Maybe we'll call the page "Ode To Joe" :D

Yeah,, I saw that too Jonny. They're like well,, this Joe Brotz guy caught a 61 pounder,,, but wait!! this just in!! Someone else caught a 51 pound MONSTER!! Now THAT fish was magnificent!! Whoa, hang on, my little sister Wendy caught a 43 pound brute that could have eaten the other two!!
I'll bet the reporter was from Methuen, lol!! (that's where the "monster" and "brute" were caught,,,,, nothing against Methuenians )

Isnt Roger Aziz a big shot with ESPN now? I recall that name. A step up from the eagle.
(edit**) Nevermind He wrote a book called Tightlines. The Best Trout and Bass Fishing in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. He also holds a mass record for bullhead cats 3. lbs 8 ounces.
I caught two bigger than that at pouch camp on dead shiners. :P Who'd a thunk it a record.
