Lake Texoma Striper

My friends and I are planning to go to Lake Texoma next week from Sunday through Saturday and I was wondering if anyone could give us some good tips to catch some striper. We wont have a boat because of an unfortunate event earlier this week. If anyone can give some helpful tips please let me know.

You'll be fishing for them in one of two ways...Either live bait on the bottom, and without a boat and electronics, thats gonna be tuff fishing... Or casting to fish that are in the jumps (chasing baitfish), also tuff without a boat, because they will invaribly be out of casting range... You might see about renting a boat or something...

The best times may be early and late in the day from shoreline.
Sea Sea. Lake Texoma is huge. The Army Corps operate 54 parks on the 89,000 acre lake with over 1000 miles of shoreline. Lake Texoma is in Southern Oklahoma about 80 miles south of Oklahoma City and ~ 50 miles North of Dallas Texas. Texas and Oklahoma both share Lake Texoma on the Red River.

yup I'll agree on that lake being huge! Flew over it on the way into Dallas back in November

Thanks for all the help. Unfortunatly were only Seniors and were limited on the amount of money we can spend so renting a boat is out of the question. Are there any baits or lures anyone can suggest? Also what about the other fish like catfish or other types of bass?

Well for catfish all you need is a lawn chair a sinker and some chicken livers. Or some other stinky type bait. At least with catfish you know what depth their holding at.
Try a spinner bait for locating some fish. They are always good.

I was thinkin about maybe picking up a slab.... is there any recommendations on which color of lures i should stay around?

Since I first started making these, I have found a couple of other colors
that also work, the "Orange Blaze" and the "Hot Pink". But the "Yellow Chartreuse"
has been the most popular combination, and when I get orders in the mail, unless
otherwise requested, I ship the "Yellow Chartreuse". I will mix the colors if
requested.

I call my lure a " Prune Picker Slab ". The comes from what others
started calling me, Prune Picker ( that's what they call people who come from
California ). Hey, if you have never tried my lure, and are in the area, look
me up, and I will give you a couple of them.

I lived there for about 10 years and fished that lake frequently. my recommendation is get a throw net, catch some live bait fish, and go after some huge cats. that lake is world known for some of the biggest cats!
