hey my name is larry i have an 1984 johnson 65hp outboard i had to replace the ontrol cables that go from the satlk to the motor i get the engine to idle and warmed up after that it wont start right back up again and have to choke it while its warm to get it going i have a feeling i have a issue with fuel flow and cables not adjusted right

I have a 70 hp Johnson, which is a 1984. I would check the cable settings and fuel settings. I think you have flooded the engine while trying to start it. I cleaned my carborators with a carb cleaner. Make sure you follow instructions on the can. Once I cleaned them the engine started a lot better. Johnsons have a bad reputation of carbon build up in the carborator. Especially if you idle a lot or are trolling.
