Default September in The Sound

September is a month that has a significant amount of variables that make fishing very interesting. Looking at the past few years of logs we have enjoyed everything from Albies, Bonito, Blues and Bass on a variety approaches and lures.

Albies are by far the most exciting and frustrating as we search for visual splashes, pull up on them and seed the area with live peanut bunkers and casting small metals and flies. Bonito on a fast troll produced limited results but when they do show it is a great fish to catch on light spin casting rods or on the fly.

Stripers are a dawn and dusk event on plugs and flies and once the water cools a little towards the end of the month we throw on the Bunker Spoons.

Blues are here and feed hard on top and we like to target them with noisey poppers. They too will grab a Spoon and we expect a nice September.

The End of September I will be giving a Sunday 12:30pm Striper Seminar at the Norwalk In Water Boat Show so please stop by and say hello. I will be booking Fall trips and will discount the trips to any Striper247 member so please mention that! I hope to see you in Norwalk.
Enjoy the Fall Run

Albies are making a showing in the Western Sound but very sporadic unlike off the NJ Shore where they are located from IBSP to Breezy.

We are starting to see more dawn and dusk activity around the islands on plugs and most Stripers are resident fish and there are some smaller blues mixed in. Yo-Zuri Surface Cruisers, Sashimi Sliders, Dannys-Swimmers are producing during the morning hours while the Black Bomber has ruled the nights.
