Seeking help for new rod and reel set up

Well I have a problem with the bait feeder I go to switch the feeder off and the reel gets stuck in free spool it's cost me a few fish last year even holding the spool with my hand. And to me the rod just feels like a 2x4 it's heavy and it's hard for me to read what's going on at the other end of the line with it. All I do is chunk herring and the occasional live line . Where I fish 3 oz is more then plenty to get good distance and hold the bottom I think I'm going to end up going with the st Croix mojo surf 10-6 with the 2-6oz rating. I've also narrowed it down to the shimano thunnus I think I will be a lot more satisfied with just a smother performing combo

I went today and checked out the mojo surf rods again. Im pretty dead set on purchasing one. My only thought is which model to buy. its a toss up between the 10' 6" model with a rating of 2-6oz or the 11' with a rating of 3-8oz. All this rod would be doing is throwing chunk into the river and mouths of the creeks. I normally never fish heavier then a 3oz sinker also
