Default Seeking help for new rod and reel set up

The reason I am posting this in the Hudson River section is I'm looking for a new specific setup for the river this coming run. I spend most of my time throwing chunk hearing often into the mouth of the Wappingers creek and in the shallows of the main river. I'm looking for a new setup to suit my needs I'm looking to spend between 400 and 450. I have done a lot of research on different brands rods and reels. But I'm looking for first hand experience with fishing the hudson from one of you kind gents

For a reel ... Shimano Thunnus Ci4

For a rod - I just got this last year and really like it.

For casting I prefer my 9 foot ugly stick over my 9 foot shimano, same reel on both. The ugly stick gets better distance.

I like the Okuma Catalina witha line counter for Hudson fishing so I can set my bait at an exact depth......if you don't want the counter then the Okuma Solterre with a lever drag is awesome.

For a pole I'm very partial to the Penn Bluewater carnage but the Ugly Stick jigging poles are also good.

for $120 at Dicks, I use a BW1107 ugly stick, and okuma 65 bait runner. Affordable, and work great.

Mid sized surf casting rod. I like spinning reels. 20 lb test. Assortment of sinkers, three way swivels, and big circle hooks. Scap net and some stoolies. Right place at the right time.

Shimano baitrunner is the perfect reel for live or chunk bait for stripers IMO. Paired with any rod with enough backbone to cast your bait and 2+oz of lead. The reel is really very much more important than the rod.

I have older 4500's. Which I believe are the size of the new 3500s

What's awkward about your combo though?

That's a pretty good combo for chunking from shore
