Read the jigging 101 post by jig man, but for a basic breakdown here it goes.
From a stationary position cast oppisote the way the tide is running IE if the tides coming in cast towards the mouth of the inlet, if ts going out cast towards the bay.
Then depending on how you want to fish it do some different things
If you want to fish on top close the bail when it hits the water
Middle close the bail after a couple of second
bottom- leave the bail open till line stops feeding off it then raise the tip of your rod and drop it to see if you can feel the bottom
Next wait for the jig to drift down don't let it get to far then retrieve it and repeat.
