Havestraw dominated HRFA Hudson River Striped Bass Derby
Last weekend's rain-hampered Hudson River Fisherman's Association (HRFA) Hudson River Striped Bass Derby was dominated by river weigh-ins at Havestraw, N.Y. Only one place winner brought a bass into the Staten Island weigh-in station at Atlantis Marina, Great Kills, Staten Island. The leaderboard follows:

I've never met him ,but he seems to be one of those rare individuals that knows his quarry better than it knows itself. Kinda like those elite whitetail hunters that can take record class bucks on public land consistently. I think striper fishing is such a challenge because it's a mobile population from the time it gets into the river until it leaves. At least in the ocean, you can concentrate on structure and bait. All that goes out the window in the river. I would love to sit and pick his brain for a couple of hours.
