New striped bass restrictions on Santee Cooper begin
Season restrictions signed into law last year on the striped bass population for the lakes and rivers of the Santee Cooper system are now in affect.

Anglers must not harvest or possess striped bass and must immediately release any striped bass caught through Sept. 30. This is considered a first step to combat the population decline of striped bass in the Santee Cooper system.

The regulations also include the reduction in creel limits from five to three, an increase in the minimum size limit from 21 inches to 26 inches, an increase of 14 points for violations, and striped bass must be landed with head and tail intact so enforcement officers can measure the complete fish.
