You can fish all day and all night at the duct. I have caught stripers at all times of the day as I don't get out there much at night. There are people that do very well at night too. You can get to the duct in Palmdale by going I-5 to 14 north and exiting Pearblossom Hwy. It crosses the duct. From there you can go east towards Little Rock or west into Palmdale. If you want to hit the over the grapevine section of the duct, you can stay on I-5 head towards Taft? Best method is to use google maps in satellite view and map out your trip to hit several spots. Wherever a road crosses the duct has walk in fishing. Some advice is to hit several spots to locate the fish.

Kern county has 18" minimum and 2 maximum striper limites. LA County and San Bernardino county portions of the duct ar no minimum size and a limit of 10.

I don't fish for cats but have snagged a few while working lures for stripers. There are lots of cats this time of year. Chicken liver, anchocy, sardines, mackerel are the choice of baits for them. The stripers will hit them too.

Go to the areas near golf course road on the backside of Buena Vista Lake. I recommend turning onto golf course rd. from HWY 119.

You can fish out there all night. I don't fish for catfish much in the duct, I go to Buena Vista; use light line... tiny bobbers near the shore, anchovies or bloody chicken hearts.

If you go to the duct at night, take a light action casting rod with artificial lures for when the stripers come through, I caught these OCT 9 2011 about 11pm. See pics on FB - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...9289330&type=3

Spring and fall they also bite during the day
the rest of the year at night mostly
it is a lot easier to catch them at night
rattle trap lures at night, straight medium slow recovery,
be careful the aqueduct is slippery, and dangerous.
